2 Iran docs land US environment filmfest

Cinema Verde International Environmental Film and Arts Festival in the US is to screen two Iranian films.

The Cinema Verde Int’l Environmental Film and Arts Festival in the US state of Florida, is scheduled to screen two Iranian docs, ‘Atlan’ and ‘Owsia’.

‘Atlan’, directed by Moein Karimoddini, and ‘Owsia’ (Darkened Water), by Alireza Dehqan, will vie at the festival.

Made in 2015, ‘Atlan’ narrates the story of a horse trainer, Ali Golnejad, and his Turkmen horse, Ilhan, facing challenges.

Ali plans to marry with the money Ilhan wins in horse racing competitions. However, it is not going well as Ilhan due to unforeseen circumstances and Ali has to fight for his horse’s championships.

‘Atlan’, one of the most successful documentaries of Iran, has participated in many national and international festivals and bagged many international awards.

The 30-minute ‘Owsia’ depicts an aqueduct in Yazd Province that has supplied the city with water for hundreds of years.

Cinema Verde, an Environmental Film and Arts Festival in Gainesville, Florida, was created to raise awareness of environmental issues through the arts.

The 2017 edition of the Cinema Verde International Environmental Film and Arts Festival is slated for February 9-12.
